Day 1 Arusha – Marangu – Chagga Experience Programme
In the morning, we will collect you from your hotel in Arusha and take you to Marangu, a village located in the fertile hills of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Here, you will be joined by a village guide who will take you to the Chagga Live Museum, where you will gain insight into the traditional lifestyle and family history of this agricultural society. Thereafter, your guide will lead you through coffee and banana plantations to a spectacular waterfall. On the way there, he will tell you more about the flora and fauna of the region. At the waterfall, you will have lunch and if you wish, you may take a plunge in the refreshing waters. In the afternoon, you will be driven to Mamba – a small village famous for its caves, which were once used to hide women and children for weeks during the Chagga-Massai wars. In Mamba you will also visit a local blacksmith who still forges spearheads in the traditional manner until this day. Late in the afternoon, you will be taken to the Fortune Mountain Resort for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 2 Marangu – Lushoto – Village Walk
Today the tour heads towards the famous Usambara Mountains and an approximate 4 hour drive will bring you to Lushoto, your destination for the day. In colonial times, Lushoto was known as Wilhelmstal and it was an extremely popular settlement for foreigners. No time is wasted as you head straight to the majestic slopes of the surrounding mountains to enjoy lunch at the Irente Farm. The majority of the meal you will enjoy is produced exclusively on the farm. Following lunch, a short walk will bring you to the famous Irente viewpoint which overlooks the Mkomazi floodplains and offers spectacular views. From here, it’s back to town to partake in an insightful walk through Lushoto to get a better feel for the area. In the late afternoon you will be taken to the Mullers Mountain Lodge, where you will be spending the night.

Day 3 Lushoto – Forest Walk – Pangani
Day 3 Lushoto – Forest Walk – PanganiThis morning you will have a chance to properly explore the surrounding forest-covered foothills of the Usambara Mountains. With the aid of a knowledgeable guide you will make your way through the rainforest-like vegetation along winding pathways, discovering amazing sights around every corner. Lunch will be served after the walk, followed by some time for a well-deserved break. During the afternoon hours the tour continues further south towards the less frequented coastline of Tanzania’s mainland. Your destination for the day is the Beach Crab Resort, situated on a pristine beach along the warm waters of the Indian Ocean.

Day 4 Pangani – Onward Travels
Today is the last day of the tour, leaving you with the option to extend your stay in Pangani to laze around the magnificent beaches or to take a speedboat to the beautiful island of Zanzibar (prices on request, depending on the number of participants).
